Be Proud of Your Achievements

Few months ago, local marathi channel aired a celebrity special reality show similar to Dancing with the stars.  It was portrayed that all the contestants were friendly to each other, and took the competition in right spirit. The top two contestants acted as if they are good friends like sisters. The younger of the two addressed the other one as tai  (which means elder sister, in marathi)

During the final, the elder of the two, won the title. The person who lost obviously felt bad, and she cried on the stage.  With all the melodrama, the winner almost felt guilty about her achievement, and she cried too, and started consoling the runner up. (All of this possibly could be an act, for TRP ratings)

It is one thing to display good sportsman spririt. I’m not advocating putting down your competiotion, after it is clear that you have won.  It is important that one takes pride in one’s own success. Even when your friendly competitors (this can happen only for individuals, not businesses) loses, you need not feel guilty.  Since you have put in efforts, you reap the rewards.

For the curious one, the show is called Eka Peksha Ek – which means “better than one another”
